The Sideways Race Video.

When Dave took this he held his phone sideways so you will all have to lie down for optimal viewing. I would have turned it round but don't know how.

It does however give you an idea of the speed the kids reach on these little toboggans they use for sliding down the hill. Lie down and relax before pressing go. :-)

Midnight In The Graveyard.

On Saturday night after two hours of vigorous Laser Tag at Crosspoint Center the teenagers in the Herdman house went moonlight sledding in the local graveyard where a long hill provides considerable thrill for those brave enough give it a go. With the temperature at -2F or -20C and the hill considerably slick (that's slippery in down under terminology) some hair raising rides were had by those determined to dodge the headstones and occassional tree.

Our friend "Big" from Thailand had his first ever sled ride and and is now an experienced toboggan rider and Fen from China was able to out ride them all with her new boots. Sherree was even brave enough to try the hill but was a little nervous about the high speeds in the dark.
We went home at 12.15am so this blog spot must be using Pacific time as we are now into Sunday morning.

Artic Blast

This has been a cold week all over the US and we have had some snow. Today we are getting 4 to 6 inches and the kids are out of school. Gabriel and Thomas have the job of clearing the driveway with snow shovels. Gabriel has also been keeping the driveway clear for the eldery couple next door. Neighbourhood kids have been enjoying the opportunity to play in the street.

Football Season

Every football season we work for a security company at the Bengals Football Stadium in Cincinnati. These are Sunday games so we manage to squeeze them into our busy schedule.

The earnings from this goes directly to Rebecca's school fees (now College fees). We have a team of parents and family members from her recent High School, Spring Valley Academy, who join us and work for their children's fees. The local season consists of 10 games and possibly a "play off" as this year the Bengals have won their division. The attached photo was taken at the stadium after the last game. It appears hazy outside as it was snowing quite heavily.

Our team takes responsibility for staffing the Bengals suites on the east side of the Paul Brown Stadium. These are high end suites owned by companies and sometimes well known individuals such as Nick Lachey. Follow the above link for more info on the stadium and areas we work in.

New Addition To The Family

Oliver joined the family recently after he had been abandoned by his owners. He is a beautiful, long haired, friendly, cat who looks very like Sassy. He has fitted in well with no problems from his new sisters Sassy and Bengal. He is about a year old at the moment but is going to be a big boy as he eats non stop.

Christmas

Christmas has come and gone in the usual frenzy. Gabriel made a lovely cookie tree with cranberry decorations.

Christmas Eve everyone was kept busy constructing a pre fabricated ginger bread house. The foreman kept everyone on task and it soon grew into a beautiful work of art.

We decided to do something different this year and we had Christmas breakfast instead of the traditional lunch. Dave planned an exotic menu of breakfast foods and we got up at 5am to prepare. It was really lovely to have it all over and done by 10am and we could relax for the day. It was so successful I would like to do breakfast again next year.
